The Hamburg City Hall, designed by Martin Haller in the 1880s. Haller came from a distinguished banking family of Jewish origin. Hallerstrasse, a street named after his family was renamed “Ostmarkstrasse”in the 1930s by the Nazis (in tribute to the annexation of Austria), but then reverted to its original title after World War II.
