A Twilight Illumination and a Surprise Gift

A Writer's Journey Comes Full Circle with a Final Visit to the SS "United States"
At least three artists were at work capturing the illuminated SS United States in on canvas, while several other visitors were taking selfies.
As viewed from South Columbus Boulevard, looking north.
Looking both forlorn and magnificent at the same time.
Two artists capturing a special, illuminated moment at the twilight of the ship’s life. Partway through my video, just before I held up the fuse, the lights switched off.
Earlier that day, I had given a Last Ships From Hamburg book talk for the Katz JCC Community Center in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Over 80 people showed up midday on a Monday. After my talk, one of the audience members, who worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers, gave me an electrical box fuse from the SS United States, one of only a few original items left in the shell of the great liner.
